Narcissistic Abuse Recovery

For Adults Who Want to Reclaim Their Lives

You've Survived. Now It's Time to Heal.

At Positively Therapeutic, we specialize in trauma recovery and narcissistic abuse helping adults who have spent years surviving finally begin living. Our team of trauma-focused therapists offers evidence-based, compassionate care in a space where your story is met with understanding, not judgment.

Whether you're just beginning to name what happened to you or you're ready to do the deeper work, we're here and we'll meet you exactly where you are.

Our Approach

Positively Therapeutic is a trauma-specialized practice. That means every clinician on our team works within a shared trauma-informed framework, and all client care is conducted under the direct clinical supervision of our founder, Genevieve Newman, LPC a certified EMDR therapist with specialized expertise in trauma and narcissistic abuse recovery.

We draw on modalities that are particularly well-suited for survivors: EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). While each therapist brings their own style and strengths, our work is grounded in a common belief that healing is possible, that your experience was real, and that you deserve care that actually understands what you've been through.

When you work with anyone at Positively Therapeutic, you're not just working with a therapist. You're working within a practice that is built around your recovery.

Genevieve Newman, MBA, MA, LPC Owner/Therapist

Hi, I'm Genevieve, and I'm so glad you found your way here.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Positively Therapeutic, a practice I built specifically to serve survivors of trauma and narcissistic abuse. With a background spanning both business and mental health, I bring a grounded, practical perspective to therapy one that honors where you've been while keeping an eye on where you're going.

I specialize in trauma recovery and narcissistic abuse, and I am certified in EMDR — one of the most effective, evidence-based treatments available for trauma. I also work from an IFS-informed framework, which means we work gently with the deeper parts of you that have been shaped by pain, helping to release what no longer serves you and rebuild from a place of strength.

I know firsthand how much courage it takes to seek help, and I don't take that lightly. My approach is warm, affirming, and culturally responsive because healing looks different for everyone, and your story deserves to be met with understanding, not judgment.

As the clinical supervisor of our practice, I am closely involved in the care of every client we serve. You are not just a name on a caseload here.

I would love to be part of your journey.

Tatsiana Makarov, MSW, LSW Associate Therapist

Tatsiana is a bilingual therapist who works with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, and the lasting impact of past relationships and painful life experiences. Her approach is warm and collaborative, drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and psychodynamic work to help clients understand themselves more deeply and begin to heal what has been quietly weighing on them.

Before becoming a therapist, Tatsiana built a career in other fields, giving her a grounded understanding of working life, ambition, and the kind of burnout that comes from holding too much for too long. She knows how powerful it can be to finally set some of it down and she creates a space where that feels safe to do.

Tatsiana offers sessions in both English and Russian, and welcomes adult clients (18+) from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Julie works with adults navigating anxiety, self-doubt, toxic relationship patterns, and the complicated aftermath of high-conflict or emotionally abusive relationships. She has a particular passion for survivors who have spent years prioritizing everyone else and are finally ready to put themselves first the overthinkers, the overfunctioners, the people who are hard on themselves and quietly running on empty.

Julie's approach is warm and direct, drawing on CBT, DBT, and Internal Family Systems to help clients build real insight and real skills. She doesn't do surface-level she helps you understand the patterns, where they came from, and how to change them.

As a working mother, Julie brings lived understanding of how much we carry in silence, and zero judgment about how long it took you to get here. Clients often leave sessions feeling more like themselves clearer, steadier, and a little kinder toward who they are.

Julie works with adults 18+ and welcomes anyone who's ready to begin, even if they're not sure where to start.
